Flight 93 Movie

David Beamer, father of Todd Beamer who died on Flight 93, offers his thoughts on the premiere of "Flight 93". His closing thoughts say it all:

May the taste of freedom for people of the Middle East hasten victory. The enemy we face does not have the word "surrender" in their dictionary. We must not have the word "retreat" in ours. We surely want our troops home as soon as possible. That said, they cannot come home in retreat. They must come home victoriously. Pray for them.

Corporate Culture

Alcatel and Lucent are merging, and the Wall St. Journal has an article about a possible culture clash between the French and American companies. I see this as upside for all the Americans because of the new "french" benefits:

  • Champagne at all meetings after 4:00 (3 on holidays)

  • Health Benefits for Mistresses

  • A new "C-Level" position: Chief Philosopher Poet (CPP). You get to site in the Cafe, drink coffee, smoke Gauloises, and expound short treaties on the decline of corporate existentialism

Blood..on the Axe

So I woke up this morning full of energy and wanting to do some yard work. I went to the hardware and was greeted by the young, high school store clerk

"Hello. Can I help you find something today?" He said.

"Why yes." I repied. "I need an axe."

It was all I could do to keep me from adding "...for my wife" to my request (I'm joking, honey). Later, after I attacking a recalcitrant bit of pucker brush, I noticed I was bleeding. A little blood got on the axe handle. It reminded me of a title on my son's iTunes playlist.
